Our employment services help immigrants become independent and effective in their job search. An Employment Specialist will help you create an action plan based on your career goals, determine what services and programs you are eligible for, provide coaching on Canadian workplace culture, and connect you with job openings. To guide you as you prepare for working in Canada, SOICS’ employment services include:

- Access to job postings and job search assistance
- Career exploration – looking at your skills and interests in order to make a plan to achieve your career goals
- Information on trades and entrepreneurial opportunities
- Assistance with vendor application for the summer market and licensing from Interior Health
- Referral to existing resources for apprenticeship training, wage subsidy, and more intensive employment related assistance
- Orientation to managing money, understanding details of a pay cheque, taxation documents (T4), and budgeting to achieve economic stability

- Skills enhancement workshops including First Aid, Food Safe, WHMIS, Serving it Right, World Host
- Essential skills training and access to digital literacy

The website provides information specifically aimed at international applicants, as these profiles can help prepare immigrants for the Foreign Qualification Recognition (FQR) and guide their pre-arrival research.
Skilled Immigrant Info Centre
The Skilled Immigrant Info centre is an online resource centre that helps immigrants explore careers, offers comprehensive employment guides and provides up-to-date occupational labour market outlooks. It also provides industry and credential evaluation links and information necessary for newcomers to make informed career choices.
